Closing thoughts

Agents took over the typing. What's left is the part that was always the job: deciding what to build, making trade-offs explicit, and building systems (technical and human) that let a team ship safely without heroics.

Claude Code is written almost entirely by Claude Code, and Anthropic ships multiple releases per engineer per day. That isn't evidence that engineers matter less. It's evidence that the engineers who set direction, constraints, and standards now have far more influence than before.
